More great communities close to the beach

In Lewes, More Homes that Make it Easy to Reach the Beach

Last week I posted about some wonderful neighborhoods tailor-made for people who cherish time at the beach and love being able to get there easily with a short drive or a scenic bike ride. Because there are so many communities in this category I focused on a cluster located just east of Lewes and bordered by Kings Highway and Gills Neck Road. If you haven’t found a home in any of these neighborhoods don’t worry – there are several more that are East of Route One and slightly West of Route One that are easy to tour online at our new Web site

Canary Creek currently offers single family and twin homes priced from the mid-$500s to just over $800,000. It’s bordered by the Great Marsh on one side and offers easy access to historic downtown Lewes via bike, a very short drive, or a healthy walk. This is a relatively new community with homes that feature modern finishes, airy interiors, and a low-maintenance lifestyle.

Located near the end of scenic Pilottown Road, Fisher’s Cove is a now being developed as a small community of grand single family homes that also border the Great Marsh. This is a perfect place for folks who want to design their own home or collaborate with highly experienced local builders. The lots are large, and some will even have access to boat slips. Many also have lovely natural views, and all offer easy access to downtown Lewes. Right now you can buy lots for about $650,000.

Harbor Point also borders the Great Marsh, which means more scenic sights and easy access to Lewes and the beach. There’s a club house with a pool, and there are two recently constructed homes on the market for $990,000 and $1,600,000.

If you love modern twists on traditional homes, Mariner’s Retreat is a great place to anchor even closer to downtown Lewes. All of the homes have been built within the past few years, and all have been designed to benefit from large wooded lots. The vibe is upscale, with one home recently pending and priced at $2,695,000 It’s brand new, custom-built, and features a heated gunite pool.

Nassau Grove and Nassau Station are adjacent communities along New Road, which also offers direct access to downtown Lewes and proximity to the bike trails that will take you part of the way to Georgetown to the east and all the way into Rehoboth if you’re up for a long scenic ride west. Both communities are quiet and well-established, with two available single family homes at the Grove currently priced at $589,000 and $649,000, and two homes at the Station priced at $619,000 and $635,000. There’s also a nice lot available in Nassau Station for $395,000 if you’d like to design and build your own custom home.

Across New Road, Tower Hill is being developed as a large community with 293 homes built by Carl Freeman Companies that feature spacious and airy interiors. There will also be a club house, pool, tennis and pickleball courts and walking trails. It backs up to mature trees and also offers access to downtown Lewes and the beach via car, or a 20-minute bike ride. Prices currently range from the high $700s to mid $800s.

Pilottown Village and The Reserves at Pilottown are two more communities offering fine homes, many surrounded by mature trees. Both are an easy walk or bike ride to downtown and the beach. These homes are especially desirable because of the location, and tend to sell very quickly. Three in Pilottown Village that are currently under contract, with listing prices of $750,000, $795,000 and $995,000.
