As we approach the height of summer, farmers markets around our beach communities are in full bloom and brimming with locally-grown products that are dependably fresh and flavorful. Here’s a list of where to find them.
LEWES
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is a decades-long tradition, featuring organically grown items that come directly from local family farms. It runs through September 26th at George H.P. Smith Park on Saturdays from 8 a.m. till noon . . . and on Wednesdays at the Crooked Hammock Brewery from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. through September 2nd.
The Nassau Valley Vineyards Farmers Market is located just off Route 1 as you enter or exit the town of Lewes. It runs on Sundays from 12 noon to 3 p.m. until the middle of October at the Vineyards, where you’ll find fresh local produce, artisan crafts, wine and live music.
MILTON
The Milton Farmers & Artisan Market runs on Fridays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. through September 4th. It takes place at Grace Church at 514 Union Street and features local produce, baked goods, fresh lemonade, food trucks, and entertainment.
REHOBOTH
The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market runs every Tuesday until the middle of October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at Grove Park. It features produce, flowers, specialty foods from local markets and arts and crafts.
BETHANY
The Bethany Beach Farmers Market happens on Sundays from 8 a.m. to noon through September 8th. It’s held at the PNC Bank parking lot at Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue and offers fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods and local goods near downtown Bethany Beach.
The Farmers Market at Sea Colony happens Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon through September 2nd at 33546 Market Place.
FENWICK
The Fenwick Island Farmers Market runs on Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon through August. It is located at The Station, 1406 Coastal Highway and features local fruits and vegetables along with baked goods and other items.
