Why I Decided To Make a Permanent Move to Delaware

It's hard to believe that I have been living in Delaware for nearly 25 years. My first visit here was way back in 1991, and by 1999, I made the decision to make this place my permanent home. The main reason behind my move was for a fresh start. I was looking for new opportunities and a change of scenery. Delaware seemed like the perfect place for that.  Before that, I've lived in a few different places like Pennsylvania, The Netherlands, New Mexico, South Korea, and Maryland.

Let me take a moment to describe the sheer beauty of Delaware. Imagine stunning beaches, charming small towns, lush farms, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that seem to go on forever.   One of my earliest experiences in Delaware was at Cape Henlopen State Park, which has remained unchanged over all these years. It's still my all-time favorite place in the area, and guess what? My husband and I even tied the knot there!

The sense of community in Delaware is something truly special. Just drive through any neighborhood, and you'll see people waving and greeting each other warmly. The people here are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to lend a helping hand. It's heartwarming to be part of a community that genuinely cares and supports one another. I've made lifelong friends here who've made me feel like I've found my second home.

Now, let's talk about something that might not be the most exciting topic - taxes. Trust me, Delaware has some serious tax advantages. With no sales tax and one of the lowest income tax rates, I feel like I get to keep more of my hard-earned money. It just makes sense, doesn't it?

If you're worried about missing out on the amenities of big cities, fear not! Delaware is strategically located near bustling cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. It's only a 4-hour drive to New York, and there are great train options to easily get in and out of the city from neighboring towns. So, a weekend getaway to the dazzling lights of the city is just a short drive away. It's the perfect blend of both worlds. And even if you prefer to stay local, Delaware has plenty to offer with its top-notch dining and entertainers.

Making the decision to move somewhere new can be tough, but for me, Delaware has exceeded all my expectations. The opportunities, the low taxes, the natural beauty, and the wonderful friends I've made here have made it the ideal choice for me.

Many of our agents and staff here are Active Adults who have also made the move to Delaware.  They have been where you are now and are ready and willing to help you with your relocation!

So, if you're considering a change of scenery or searching for a place that truly has it all, I wholeheartedly recommend Delaware. It's a decision that has completely changed my life, and I have a feeling it could do the same for you.
