From Staten Island to Lewes, Delaware Meet Featured Boomers John and Celia
That might seem like a big adjustment, moving from Staten Island, NY, to Lower Slower Delaware, but both apparently not for John and Celia Magrone. It was only 8 months ago they relocated to Lewes but they are already feeling right at home.
We talked about finding good medical care and Celia immediately said it was no problem. She called Beebe and was referred to a wonderful practice in Millsboro. What about a vet for their two dogs? Easy, they found Dr. Reid at Peninsula Veterinary Group. How about your favorite restaurants? They started to name some of the very best in the area, popular with both locals and new locals
- The Buttery, FishOn! or Blue Coast for Happy Hour
- Woody's in Dewey for crab cakes
- Lupo Italian Kitchen in Rehoboth (and theyre Italians from NY!)
- Summer House
- Nectar
Before retiring, Celia worked for the Department of Education in NYC and John was a hairstylist. John still does Celias hair, and hes been known to do an occasional trim or two for a few of the neighborhood men, but John is loving retirement. Celia found a part-time job at Pier One in Rehoboth and evidence of that is apparent in the way she has decorated her new home. Does she ever take home a paycheck? Not yet, but she loves helping people with their decorating challenges.
They both love to entertain and meet new people. Their new home in the Village at Red Mill Pond has proved to be a great choice for both. They have already made fast friendships with their neighbors, hosted their first party and made plans with another couple for a Mediterranean cruise next year. You can be as busy as you want, but choose your downtime, commented Celia. In between time at the pool and clubhouse, group bike rides, and spontaneous gatherings, she and John just relax and enjoy their new home.
They both love the Lewes/Rehoboth area and how accessible everything is. Celia said she can get anywhere easily. I asked her if she thought the summer traffic was bad and her answer was What traffic, have you been to Staten Island?
Celias biggest surprise was just how low the cost of taxes, water and electric really are. John was a little surprised by the snow we had this past winter. Sorry John, but we do get a little snow occasionally.
The Magrones new home was built by K. Hovnanian and they both complimented the builder on their high standards for Customer Service. With the help of their Active Adults Realty agent Marie LaDuca, they feel they picked the right community the Village at Red Mill Pond. In fact, Ive heard that Celia visits the Sales Center on occasion just in case Shannon or Nick need a boost from a happy resident!
