An article in the News Journal by William H. McMichael, titled "Retail On The Rise In Middletown," is worth reading if you are looking to move to an area convenient to the Northeast Corridor of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
Middletown's popularity is evident with our Boomer Clients looking to take advantage of Delaware's prime location to their family and friends in NJ/PA/NY, many 55+ neighborhood options, our low Delaware taxes and more. The article features information about Middletown's Retail Growth in 2015 and the new businesses coming to the Westown area.
Retail growth is back in Middletown
McMichael continues in the article, Middletown, forecast along with nearby Odessa to be Delaware's largest metropolitan area by 2030, lies at the heart of a resurgence in residential construction south of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
In 2015-16, town residents and passers-by will see that growth echoed on the retail side. As many as a dozen retailers have signed leases or are about to, marketers, developers and town officials say. And more are on the way.
According to the article, the developer of Westown, the public-private development on the town's west side along Del. 301, has commitments from Michaels, Marshalls, Petco, Wendy's and Valvoline, both just south of the to-be-built Parkway at South Ridge development and its 554 single-family homes and apartments.
Another Grotto Pizza will be built across the highway from Wal-Mart and immediately north of the Amazon fulfillment center. Prospective businesses are looking at other locations in Middletown as well. Click here to read the entire article and to learn about the changes heading to Middletown this year.
