Support The Food Bank of Delaware Holiday Food Drive

Charity Spotlight: FOOD BANK OF DELAWARE HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE

Help make the holiday season bright for families in need this year. TheFood Bank of Delawareis asking for the publics assistance in making sure that no Delawarean goes without a holiday meal this season. This year will be a difficult one throughout the state of Delaware as more families struggle to afford food. Businesses, schools, faith-based organizations and other community groups are encouraged to organize food drives throughout the holiday season.

Cant organize a food drive? Click here to make a donation to the holiday food drive. Just $1 provides two meals! Food collected through the holiday drive will be used to create Thanksgiving For All holiday meal boxes.

The Food Bank of Delaware isin need of:

  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Canned or packets of gravy
  • Pie crust
  • Chocolate pudding mix
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Canned pumpkin
  • Seasoned stuffing mix
  • Biscuit mix
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Canned vegetables (green beans, corn, yams and peas)
  • Canned fruits (pineapple and apple sauce)
  • Pancake mix and syrup
  • Shelf-stable milk (32 oz.)
  • Apple juice
  • Turkey roasting pans
  • Frozen turkeys (drop off to Newark or Milford warehouses only)

Those who collect more than 20 boxes/bags of donated food may make arrangements with the Food Bank of Delaware to have donations picked up. In an effort to save money on transportation costs, the food bank asks that donations of fewer than 20 bags/boxes be dropped off atour facilities:

Food Bank of Delaware Milford 1040 Mattlind Way Milford, DE 19963 (302) 424-3301 Hours: M-F: 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

The boxes will be distributed to organizations who serve households in need. Organizations interested in applying to receive boxes may call Barbara Brkovich at (302) 292-1305 ext259 or email bbrkovich@fbd.org. Individuals in need should not call the Food Bank. Please call the Delaware Helpline by dialing 2-1-1 or 1-800-464-HELP. Food for the Thanksgiving for All Food Drive, must be delivered/picked up by Friday, November 15.
