Barry has retired a few times. When I first met Barry and his wife Celia, he was the Vice President of Franchise Development at AAMCO where he spent 16 of his 30 years in franchise sales. Barry grew up in Reading, PA, and met Celia in Bermuda while he served in the United States Navy 44 years ago.
We found their new home in Lewes, Delaware, in October 2008. Barry retired from AAMCO in July 2010 but kept being pulled back into the Franchise business until he finally said Im Done in October 2011.
Sitting around just doesnt come naturally to people like Barry and he figured he had to find productive ways to fill his time. "Sure, I go fishing" Barry said, "but I cant do that all day every day." Go to the Beach or the Cape Henlopen State Park? He loves being close to the water, but still he had all this free time on his hands.
Barry stopped in one day at Dawns Market just up the road in Milton on Cave Neck Road and Route One. Wally and Dawn Goff had a pot of coffee on when he got there and they enjoyed the company and some great conversations.
Dawn's Market
Since they were just getting started with their new business, Barry was a great person to bounce ideas off and Barry found he loves helping out with new Farm Projects. He even likes driving the tractor and rounding up the chickens. Barry can be found selling corn and tomatoes at the Milton Farmer's Market on Friday afternoons.
Dawns Market now participates in 6 Farmers Market each week in these Coastal Delaware towns: Milton, Milford, Millsboro, Georgetown, Long Neck and the Village of Five Points.
What does Barry like best about being retired and living in Coastal Delaware? He loved to work BUT he doesnt miss the PRESSURE! He wanted lower taxes and a slower life. Ask Celia and shell tell you he doesnt really have a Slow button but he loves the people here and he really loves his neighborhood Nassau Grove!
