Have you noticed that the terminology is different everywhere you go? They don't build duplexes here in Coastal Delaware, but they do build:
And some of them look an awful lot like a duplex! Where can you find the best duplex homes?
Heritage Shores
Both Lennar and Providence of Brookfield Homes built what they called attached single family homes for several years at Heritage Shores. Most of them are duplex type with only two end units but others have a middle unit as well. Right now the only duplexes for sale are resale units built between 2005 and 2007 unless Providence or another builder decides to build additional units; Lennar is no longer building at Heritage Shores. Village of Cinderberry
When complete, there will be a total of 170 homes in this community and 158 of them will be contemporary duplexes. The final street is now under construction and new models will be available to see shortly. All models are one level and even the smallest unit offers 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, an open floor plan, large laundry room and a one-car garage. Spring Meadow
Located just north of Dover in Smyrna, Delaware, Spring Meadow will have a total of 246 homes when complete. There are 4 end unit models and 2 different interior units, and they are some of the most popular homes at Spring Meadow. The clubhouse is open and there is a very active group of residents with a long list of things to do. Nobles Pond
Nobles Pond located in Dover, the Capital of Delaware, feels like small-town Main Street America. Of the estimated 600 total homes to be built, approximately 200 will be duplex style carriage homes. With spacious open floor plans and plenty of options and upgrades available, these energy-efficient duplexes all offer a one-car garage. Waterfront and Walkability
You can find other attached homes in communities throughout both Coastal and Central Delaware, but not in specific age restricted communities and very few are single level homes. But here is a terrific 2-bedroom, one-level condo with a huge 2-car garage that also happens to be waterfront with a dock for your boat right outside your back door.
