What’s always mattered most about our life in Delaware is the broad range of opportunities we have to enjoy nature, entertainment and culture, and the simple pleasures of good friends and neighbors. That’s why my last two posts about the winter holidays have focused on parades, performances, gorgeously decorated homes and other wonderful experiences.

Most of us have had Thanksgiving celebrations that involved hours of shopping, cooking and cleaning for large groups of family and friends. While we might have enjoyed a lot of it, the process is a recipe for exhaustion. And even though most of us like leftovers, we’ve often had to toss out extras after the third day or [...]

As described below, The Lodge at Truitt Homestead https://truittlodge.com/ offers a similar opportunity. It’s located in Rehoboth near King’s Creek and the Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Cape Henlopen is front and center of my radar since we live about a mile away and we take our dog for a long walk there just about every single day.  But regardless of where you live you’re never too far from other parks and nature preserves that are likewise protected. Even better, the Delaware State Parks Web site https://destateparks.com/ spotlights an astounding array of experiences you can enjoy – from paranormal adventures to Autumn-specific nature and cultural events to the perfect camp site or gathering place. Here are a few especially cool ones.

I’ve done a few posts about fun events highlighted in the Fall Festivals Guide https://www.capegazette.com/center/fall-festivals-2023/263774, including the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival https://www.rehobothjazz.com/ and True Blue Jazz Festival https://www.truebluejazz.org/, but realized I could probably blog every day for a month if I tried [...]
