The most wonderful time of year for many of us has rolled around once again. I’ll have a lot to
write about over the next few weeks, beginning with this rundown of holiday parades taking
place all over Delaware. Regardless of where you live, you won’t have to travel far for a festive
celebration. Here are some highlights:
The MILLSBORO CHRISTMAS PARADE is Tuesday, December 2nd, from 5 to 6
p.m. It runs from the M&T Bank on Mitchell Street to Main Street.
The GEORGETOWN CHRISTMAS PARADE culminates with Caroling on the Circle at the center of
town and begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 4th. You can have a fabulous time and
support those in need by bringing food to a pod at the circle, and you can continue donating
through the end of December at the County Administrative Offices near the courthouse. You
can also participate by dropping off items at the Food Bank of Delaware’s partners locations,
including the Home Depot in Lewes and the Bridgeville, Georgetown and Laurel public libraries.
The SELBYVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 5th and features
antique cars, food, a raffle to benefit the Selbyville Historical Society and, of course, an
appearance by Santa.
The LAUREL CHRISTMAS PARADE also happens on Friday, December 5th and begins at 7 p.m.
and runs from Evergreen Drive to Maryland Avenue. If you want to participate, go to Evergreen
Drive at 6 p.m.
Friday, December 5th is also the date for the HARRINGTON CHRISTMAS PARADE, which begins
at 7 p.m., with a December 9th rain date.
The folks in Middletown are so confident that their event will be awesome they’ve titled it the
DOWNTOWN MIDDLETOWN HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR PARADE. It’s a daytime event that begins
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th and runs from Everett Meredith Middle School to South
Broad Street.
The DELMAR CHRISTMAS PARADE also takes place on Saturday, December 6th and starts at 2
p.m. and runs from State Street to Eighth Street to Delmar High School.
The CAMDEN WYOMING CHRISTMAS PARADE starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th and
runs from Caesar Rodney High School and runs from Main Street to Camden Wyoming Avenue
to the railroad tracks in Wyoming. Santa will spend time with visitors at the Town Hall after the
parade.
The SEAFORD CHRISTMAS PARADE starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th and begins at
Nylon Boulevard and runs down Pennsylvania Avenue to High Street, turns on Market Street
and ends near Seaford Middle School.
The LEWES CHRISTMAS PARADE is always a little over-the-top in the best way and takes place
Saturday, December 6th. It starts at 5 p.m. and runs down Savannah Road and through the
lovely historic downtown and is followed by the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Zwaanendael
Park and then by caroling with local music students.
Sunday, December 7th is a big day for CHRISTMAS IN CLAYTON with breakfast with Santa at the
Clayton Fire Department from 8 to 11 a.m., hayrides from 2 to 4 p.m. and wonderful holiday
vendors from 2 to 6 p.m. The parade starts at 5 p.m. at Clayton Elementary School and ends at
the Eagle John Pridemore Park.
The DAGSBORO CHRISTMAS PARADE begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9th and runs from
Main Street behind Indian River High School to the Dagsboro Fire Hall.
The BRIDGEVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th with food
trucks and other fun stuff.
The DASHING THROUGH DOWNTOWN DOVER PARADE also takes place on Saturday,
December 13th and welcomes donations to Toys for Tots.
The FELTON CHRISTMAS PARADE starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 19th and culminates
with another chance to meet Santa.
Looking ahead to New Year’s celebrations, the HUMMER’S PARADE returns to Middletown on
New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. It begins at South Cass Street and loops through town to end back at
Cass Street.
