HOLIDAY SHOWS TAKE CENTER STAGE

The winter holidays are fast approaching, welcoming in the season of gratitude, giving, and
hope. I’ll be posting a lot over the next few weeks about events in various Delaware
communities, house tours, and ways to support folks in need. This week, I’m spotlighting our
state’s vibrant theatre scene and some of the many holiday-themed performances scheduled
from Wilmington down to the beaches.

 

IN SUSSEX COUNTY
The Milton Theatre is a vibrant gathering place year-round, and especially during this holiday season, with:

  • Several performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat between now and December 14th
  • The Christmas Cartoon Trio, a musical resurrection of tunes from the iconic Charlie Brown Christmas show on December 17th
  • The Slay Belles Holiday Drag Show on December 19th
  • A daytime performance by Bluegrass Nutcracker with the Front Porch Orchestra and an evening show of Sinatra’s Christmas with Tony Sands on December 20th
  • Two daytime performances of Holiday Tea: An Interactive Live Show and an evening performance by the Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band’s Holiday Concert on December 21st
  • Day and evening performances of Milton’s Melodies, A Hometown Holiday Cabaret on December 22nd
  • Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite by Delmarva Big Band on December 23rd
  • Silent Night, Not Tonight Stand-up Comedy on December 26th
  • The Bell Bottom Blues on December 27th
  • The Brothers Doobie celebration on December 28th
  • The Crush New Year’s Celebration on December 31st

In Rehoboth, the Clear Space Theatre Company will present A Christmas Carol from November 28th through December 14th.

In Georgetown, the Possum Point Players will present The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on weekends from December 5th through December 14th.

In Selbyville, the Capitol Ringers will present The Most Wonderful Time and A Few of Our
Favorite Things at the Freeman Arts Pavilion

 

IN KENT COUNTY

Milford’s Riverfront Theatre and the Second Street Players will present several weekend

performances of Coney Island Christmas from November 28th through December 7th.

 

IN NEW CASTLE COUNTY
The Delaware Theatre Company in Wilmington will present Shrek: The Musical, a festive journey about finding self-acceptance and community connections that’s perfect for your whole family. It runs from December 3rd through December 21st.

The Grand Opera House in Wilmington has lots of holiday offerings, including:

  • Carols in Color on December 7th, a dance holiday musical telling the story of Christ’s birth
  • The First State Ballet Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker especially for children, with two daytime shows on December 11th
  • A full week of performances of The Nutcracker by the First State Ballet Theatre for the whole family, from December 13th through 21st

The Delaware Children’s Theatre is another great place for folks who love the Green Ogre and his Donkey friend because it’s also presenting Shrek: The Musical from November 22nd through December 7th.

The Wilmington Drama League gives you another opportunity for showtime with the grandkids with its production of
The Little Mermaid from December 12th through December 28th.

Also in Wilmington, the Candlelight Theatre Company will present several performances of Christmas by Candlelight, celebrating the songs of the season, between November 21st and December 21st.
