Lewes is the Place for Homes and History on September 21st and 22nd
Surprise! I love houses, new and old, and am always enthusiastic about learning about the latest home and lifestyle technologies, decorating and landscaping options. In other words, all of the things that turn our houses into beloved homes.
Which makes me especially happy to share information about the 7th Annual Fall Home Expo taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd at Cape Henlopen High School. There will be at least 100 exhibitors, including:
- Builders
- Mortgage, finance and insurance firms
- Home produce and service companies
It’s all free to the public, with proceeds paid by the exhibitors benefiting Habitat for Humanity.
Why should you go?
Delaware’s housing scene is thriving, with thousands of new homes being built every year to accommodate folks who love our low taxes, strong schools, vibrant recreational opportunities and thriving economy. A lot of these homes are being built in planned communities with pools, walking trails, tennis and pickleball courts and activities that help you meet you neighbors.
In many cases, depending on the builder, you may be able to select different finishes for your home – from kitchen countertops to various flooring options to appliance upgrades. Ultimately though, the way you decorate with furniture, paint and wallcovering and landscaping tends to create the strong sense of belonging that we all yearn for when we come home.
You can look into all kinds of options, and learn about home financing options at this great event. It takes place on Saturday from 9 to 4 and Sunday from 10 to 3. Get the details at https://deexpos.com/home-expos.
While you can grab something to snack on at the event, you’re virtually guaranteed to have a wonderful lunch at several nearby restaurants, including:
Big Oyster Brewery https://www.bigoysterbrewery.com/, featuring 16 beers on tap, with hoppy IPAs, robust stouts, and refreshing lagers all in the mix. The pub style menu, featuring salads, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees, is wonderful, and so is the atmosphere, with quiet spots for conversation along with an outside play area for kids. It’s located right on King’s Highway, within walking distance from the high school.
Crooked Hammock https://www.crookedhammockbrewery.com/, just a short drive farther up King’s Highway, also offers an extensive selection of beer along with great comfort food and indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bit outdoor space for kids and families.
The Station on Kings https://thestationlewes.com/ is your spot for quieter upscale dining in a quaint atmosphere, with a bakery and home and garden items to shop for after lunch.
