Meet Matt and Marilyn Coppola Our Featured Boomers

Good Fortune, Long Life and Prosperity is the inscription on this plaque in a place of honor in their new home. The plaque was created for them by Master Tetsuhiro Hokama, a great Japanese Martial Arts Master of Goju Ryu Karate and a Calligraphy Master. The Coppolas were honored to meet him during his recent visit to the United States. Matt & Marilyn are the only members of the United Martial Arts Association that are not Martial Artists themselves. However, they were instrumental in helping to build the organization in the States, especially in New Jersey. Both of their children have achieved black belt degees - their son is 6,while their daughter is a 3.

Matt & Marilyn raised their family in Randolph, New Jersey. It was a big decision to retire, leave New Jersey and relocate to Delaware, but they are loving their new life and their community. It was only one year ago that they moved into their new home in Milton, but their calendar is so full, you would think they had spent their whole life in Coastal Delaware.

Before retirement, Matt worked for the USPS and later as a Courier. It makes sense that he has found part time employment as a driver for Pivot Physical Therapy. Transporting people instead of packages makes for a fun way to keep busy. Marilyn has become a Volunteer for Cats Around Town in conjunction with Petsmart helping to care for and find loving homes for cats. Marilyn also became a Delaware Notary Public to help people in her community.

The Coppolas chose Coastal Delaware when they realized that it was only an hour further from home than the Jersey Shore. The lower cost of living in Delaware makes it easier to enjoy more leisure time and travel. Their community in Milton, the Meadows of Beaver Creek, provides year-round living close to the beach and easy access to the town. They have become members of the Milton Theatre and love the variety of entertainment offered, from comedy shows to movies and live theatre.

Favorite activities include the communitys Monthly Dine Around and the Happy Hour once a month. Restaurants at the top of their list so far include Fish On! In Lewes, Touch of Italy, Iron Hill Brewery and Mariachi in Rehoboth, and Po Boys right in Milton

Hows the traffic in the summer? They found the best way to get in and out of Rehoboth is the Dart Bus from the new Lewes Park & Ride, just south of Five Points on Coastal Highway.

Marilyn had nothing but good things to say about their community and their experience with the builder, Bryton Homes. We all agreed that there will always be issues with new construction, but the question is What happens when there are issues. Bryton stands behind their product.

As I was getting ready to leave, I couldnt help but notice the sense of community that already exists in the Meadows of Beaver Creek. There were couples taking a walk, greeting neighbors and welcoming newcomers that had just arrived with a moving van full of furniture. In fact, the newcomers had already met most of the neighbors and came to say "Hello" to the Coppolas. We recognized each other, because they too were clients of Active Adults Realty when they purchased. Well give them some time to get settled and sit down with the Blackfords for a future article.

We would love to help you find your dream home in Delaware and live your best retirement life here. You can get your Delaware home search started right here on our website, or contact one of our Active Adults Realty Agents today.
