Boomers take advantage of the numerous educational opportunities avaialable to them throughout Delaware
Some Boomers are looking to try new things after retirement. What about taking college classes? You may be surprised to find out that there are many options for higher education for seniors in Delaware through the local universities and colleges. And many include free tuition for those over 60.
Will there be educational opportunities if I retire to Delaware? Hi, this is Kathy Sperl-Bell at Active Adults Realty in Delaware and the answer is yes, lots of them. I was just taking a look at the new catalog from Osher Lifelong Learning Institute which is affiliated with the University of Delaware. If you're familiar with Lifelong Learning, these are all over the country and affiliated with Universities. So having that right here in Lewes, Oceanview, Dover, and Wilmington is really fantastic.
For their summer semester, it's a four-week session and it actually begins Monday, June 4th. That will be taking place on the Lewes campus and the Dover campus only but you should see the wide selection of courses that are available. Everything from the Arts to Finance. Understanding How to Create a Financial Plan that Works. Technology, tricks, and tips for your iPhone or your iPad. There are just a whole lot of interesting courses including that AARP Smart Driver Course, which I've been meaning to take myself. So Osher Lifelong Learning definitely something you want to take advantage of.
Other places you can check include the Delaware Technical and Community College, they have a policy for those of us that are over 60. Tuition-free on any credit course, and that's subject to availability. The University of Delaware also says 60 plus can attend college tuition-free on a space-available basis. Delaware State University says age 62 plus. And Wesley College says age 65 plus receive free tuition. but those are just some of the opportunities that I've been able to discover that will help us enjoy our retirement and keep our minds sharp.
