Where Should I Stay During My House Hunting Trip in Coastal Delaware?

Here are some of our favorite places to stay in Coastal Delaware.

Looking for a place to stay when you come to search for a home in Delaware? We have some great recommendations for you.

Where should I stay on my house hunting trip to Coastal Delaware?  I was thinking about the places I would recommend that people stay. When I travel, I always tend to look for a place that's in walking distance of town, things to do without getting in my car. In the Lewes and Rehoboth area, we have some great choices. Some of my personal favorites in Lewes, The Blue Water House. Just a fun, eclectic bed and breakfast. You're likely to find cold beer in the fridge and the total look and feel is very much like the Florida Keys. They have a room named after Key Largo, a room named Islamorada, a room named Key West. You get the drift.

Another great bed & breakfast in Lewes on Savannah Road is called the Savannah Inn, more of a traditional bed and breakfast, what you probably have experienced in other small towns. In addition, to lovely well-appointed rooms, they have a spa and they do yoga, so I would love that. They also have facilities if you're thinking down the road of looking for a place for rehearsal dinners or wedding reception. They have quite a bit of space at the Savannah Inn so you can check that out.

If you want a pet-friendly place to stay, a lot of places have a few rooms that are pet-friendly, but there's also the Lazy L at Willow Creek. It's just north of Lewes a little bit. It is a beautiful, peaceful setting there on the marsh. They have a creek where you can kayak and fish. The dogs can run, great place. Pet friendliest place at the beach, they say.

We also have a good selection of hotels and motels, many of the name brands. We have a Comfort Inn in Rehoboth and in Georgetown. We have Hampton Inn in Milford, Seaford, and Dover. We have Holiday Inn Express in Rehoboth, Seaford, Dover and Harrington. We finally got a Marriott. I think it was two years ago, brand new, Fairfield Inn, so we have a Marriott here at the beach. We have a two-year old Hyatt place in Dewey Beach which my clients say is absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a chance to go visit that yet.

Then we have some nice boutique hotels in town, Hotel Blue in Lewes, very popular. It's near Irish Eyes. You can walk and bike to the beach. In Rehoboth, we have the Avenue Inn and Spa one block from the ocean and the boardwalk. We have The Bellmoor which also has a spa and I understand great massages, also in Rehoboth. Back to Lewes, we have The Inn at Canal Square right in the heart of town on the canal. The Hotel Rodney, just a lovely hotel that is above a restaurant called the Rose and Crown so good spot.

In Rehoboth again, the Boardwalk Plaza on the boardwalk, a beautiful Victorian style property, great place to stay. Back in Lewes again, the Dogfish Inn owned by the owners of Dogfish Craft Brewery, Dogfish Brewings & Eats and the brand new Chesapeake & Maine, which is in Rehoboth.

Let me reiterate. It is best to make your reservations as soon as possible because often times there's a two night minimum on weekends. We have a fair number of properties but none of them are huge so they're going to fill up quickly. I invite you to visit our website and check out our business directory where you can find the information on all the hotels and bed & breakfasts mentioned above. While you're there, take a look around at some of the other local businesses that either we recommend personally or that we've heard good things about from our clients.
