Coastal Delaware has a market on almost any day of the week from Spring into the Fall. The Historic Lewes Farmers Market, one of my favorites takes place every Saturday morning in the heart of Lewes. During the summer market, from May 9th until September 26th, you will find 35 vendors set up on the grounds of the Historical Society Complex on Second Street; from October 3rd until November 21st, the market moves to the Shields Elementary School Parking Lot on Savannah Road.

On Friday afternoons, the town of Milton has its Farmers Market on the grounds of the Milton Historical Society in the heart of town. Miltons market has become a great place to gather for residents of Historic Milton as well as the newer neighborhoods on the outskirts of town. It feels like a big family party, especially on the 1st Friday of each month when they traditionally have local musicians entertaining the shoppers.

Would I like to see a Whole Foods in Delaware? I was a regular shopper when I lived in Northern Virginia but there were no Farmers Markets then. Now that I have access to such wonderful fresh produce, organic poultry and locally grown food of all kinds who needs Whole Foods?
