Curb Appeal is something we all understand. When you pull up in front of a home do you smile? Does it make you want to see what it looks like inside? Or, do you scratch it off your list before you even see the rest?
Curb Appeal is Staging for the exterior of your home and it may be more important than Staging the interior. If the exterior is a turnoff, the buyers may never see the inside.
Be the Buyer
Pretend you are the Buyer. You are about to retire after 30 or 40 years of working hard. Maybe you loved your job or maybe you just did what you had to do, but now youre looking for that perfect retirement home. If I am your REALTOR and we are pulling up in front of a home for sale and it is just OK, what are you thinking? I worked hard all my life, wheres my reward?
Why are you bringing me to see this house?
Maybe if you think of it that way, youll understand why your home has to look and show like a model home if you want to sell to this new group of Buyers the Baby Boomers. Both the husband and wife probably worked hard, educated several children, took care of parents and now it is their time; time to retire and move to the home of their dreams.
This is my Reward?
They dont want a home that is just OK. How exciting is that? They dont want to do anything but move in. They dont even want to see a home that needs new landscaping, new flooring, an updated kitchen or even a fresh paint job. They want their reward, the dream home with all the bells and whistles.
Is your home the home of their dreams or does it need some updating and curb appeal before it is ready to WOW buyers?
