Beautiful and quaint, the seafaring town of Lewes (pronounced
Loo-is) was founded in 1631. Tree lined, walkable streets
feature unique shops and restaurants, galleries, antique stores,
B&B’s, incredible gardens, parks, a marina, museums, and a Town
Dock on the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. You’ll also find bay beaches
and and in Cape Henlopen State Park where the bay and ocean meet
at the tip of the Cape, expanses of ocean beach. Residents and
visitors alike enjoy year round cultural activities,
celebrations, and festivals, many of which are long held
traditions in town, including the Doo-dah Parade, Boast the
Coast, an old fashioned Fourth of July celebration and Boat
Parade.
