We worked with Ron Mercante to buy a house this past summer, and he did an excellent job for us! We were purchasing a house from1000 miles away and he made himself and the potential sites accessible to us long distance. He helped us find a house that met our needs (and wants) financially, location wise, and aesthetically, a house that will be practical for us and our family now and in the future. We had some specific (and maybe difficult) requirements, and he was very flexible finding us options and ways to view the houses from out of state. He helped us handle multiple things long distance, and set up the inspection and closing around our schedule.
When we met him in person we found him to be very kind, personable, and more helpful than we could have hoped for.
We appreciated his reliability and trustworthiness; he helped us with numerous practical concerns, from figuring out who to call for trash service and electricity to helping us find contractors for work we needed to get done to help us figure out how much we wanted to bid.

At the start of 2024, I decided to put my condo up for sale. My initial plan was to move to a 55+ community and in March, I met my realtor, Ron Mercante. We went to see a few places and then it really took off. Like everything, you need to be comfortable with people you are dealing with and with Ron, it was natural. It was more like a friendship than a working relationship. Back in December, I sold my condo and was anticipating in purchasing a condo in the community that i initially liked, however that fell through, at no fault of Ron or Active Adults Realty. This happened at the beginning of 2025 and once i slept on it, I began the search and started to look for things outside of 55+ since there were more options in New Castle County. Ron jumped on a few listings that i sent him and he managed to get a few showings for us, for the following day. I was very surprised at how quick he made that happen, and forever grateful. I saw one condo that I liked, but it was only 1 BR, 1 BA and i wanted 2 and 2. The second place we looked, had just that, in Mermaid Run. I liked what I saw and didn't hesitate to make an offer. Since i bought my first condo as a first time home buyer in 2004, this was my first home purchase in a little more than 20 years, so i was a little nervous. Ron was exceptional in breaking things down for me to explain them in "non realtor" verbiage, which i appreciated and understood. In the end, my offer was accepted and we went to the settlement table on 1/24/25. I was absolutely impressed with the communication between Ron and Joann. We came to the Delaware area knowing nothing about housing in and around Smyrna. Ron Mercante basically took us under his wing and went out of his way to show us everything that was available. He never rushed us or tried to have us settle on something we didn't feel 100 % about. No one could ask for anything more in a Realtor than the service and professionalism that Ron Mercante provides. Buying and selling a home is stressful to say the least, but Ron has a way of putting everyone's anxiety at ease. He guided us through the process seamlessly, worked and negotiated to get the best outcome from our real estate transaction. It even felt as if Ron was part of our family for a few months, talking with us and helping us through all of the hurdles. He even offered to help with moving! Of course we did not take him up on it, but it was nice that he extended the offer!

So, picked Ron Mercante on the website fall of 2020. He continually kept in touch with us in Maine all the way to where we are now. We wanted to be close to kids and grands and in our conversations Ron really listened. He wanted to know us. Our NJ house sold the Beginning of April so we came to Delaware to look for a 55+place near our family. We actually looked at places in Georgetown DE and sent them to Ron; his response was priceless, "you do not want to live there." Ron had gotten to know us and knew that would never work for us. Middletown is a very popular place so pickings were slim.
But Ron insisted we go look at Whispering Woods, a sold out community except for the models. We fell in love with the Dupont but the models weren't to be sold until the end of 2021. Once again Ron proposed "make an offer". Well Thanks to Ron we are now living in that Dupont model.
