The County Seat of Sussex County, Delaware
Built around "The Circle", which is listed in the National Historic Register, you will find the Sussex County Courthouse, Town Hall, State and County Administration buildings, and the newly renovated Brick Hotel. Delaware is often referred to as "Corporate Capital USA" and Georgetown's red brick Greek Revival courthouse, built in 1839, has been the site of many significant corporate trials.

Every two years, The Circle is the site of Return Day, a 200-year-old tradition celebrated on the Thursday following the General Election in November. There's a parade, the reading of election results and the traditional "burying of the hatchet". Leading the parade in 2008 was Vice-President Elect Joe Biden!
Sussex County Airport, offering charter services, is located in Georgetown, as is Delaware Technical and Community College's Owens Campus. Del Tech offers many non-credit courses and lifelong learning opportunities as well as fitness and personal development programs, and cultural programs and events. The Possum Point Players, based in Georgetown, is also quite popular throughout Sussex County.
