What is Coastal Delaware?
When most people hear “Coastal Delaware,” they think about the fabulous ocean and bay beach towns of Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, and the Quiet Resorts. What many people don’t realize is the incredible variety of lifestyles and neighborhoods available – all of which are just a quick trip from the beach. Delaware is a small state and we are all familiar with communities in Delaware’s Sussex, Kent and New Castle Counties that have appeal for many of our active adult Clients.
Sussex County is also known as “lower-slower Delaware” boasts nationally-known beaches, recreational activities, galleries, restaurants and more. The area offers a variety of housing options in the resort towns of Rehoboth Beach or Lewes depending on your price point. You’ll find wonderful historic towns and neighborhoods a little further inland like Milton and Georgetown, old-fashioned, rural Mayberry-type downtowns in Millsboro and Bridgeville, and to the south in the Quiet Resorts, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island.
Kent County is located in the middle of the state. The area is saturated with world-class museums and attractions, restaurants, exciting gaming casinos and harness racing at Dover Downs Casino & Racetrack and the Dover Air Force Base. Dover is the state capital, rich in colonial history and Delaware hospitality, and is conveniently located mid-way between New Castle and Sussex Counties.
New Castle County is our Northern-most County and a popular choice for NJ, PA, MD Boomers with Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley conveniently located between New York City and Washington, D.C.
Wilmington is Delaware's largest city with Middletown being the fastest growing area and home to several popular 55+ active adult communities. What’s your preference? Whatever it is, Coastal Delaware has it and Active Adults Realty will find it with you!
